Nichele Moore
Executive Director

Nichele Moore was hired as Executive Director in June 2021. A native of East Saint Louis, Nichele earned a Bachelor of Science from Tuskegee University, a Masters from the University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctorate from Washington University-St. Louis. After graduation from Washington University, Nichele returned to her childhood home in East St. Louis and pursued her law career serving at Land of Lincoln Legal Aid in East St. Louis and later at Catholic Urban Programs as Director of the Neighborhood Law Office.  At Neighborhood Law, Nichele focused on representing her clients in areas that traditional legal did not assist.  Her focus was providing representation in areas that caused destabilization of the family.  Her office was the first legal aid offices in East Saint Louis to take on the issue of criminal records.  She helped thousands of clients seal their criminal records as a pathway to employment and housing opportunities.

Nichele is not new to Join Hands.  As a law student and later as an attorney, she volunteered with Girl’s Club.  She also represented Join Hand’s participants in legal matters prior to joining Join Hands as Program Director is January 2021.  Her career accomplishments and passion to help those in need are a perfect match for the next leader of Join Hands.

“Nichele has all the qualities to take Join Hands to the next level,” said Sheila Burton, founder and former executive director. “Our mission is kindness and understanding, walking alongside our clients in good times and bad. Nichele is the person to take us all forward, and we couldn’t be more excited about the future.”
