During 2012-2014 academic years, 10 high school juniors from St. Louis Priory School agreed to become “big brothers” for 10 boys, “little brothers” from East St. Louis.
The “Bigs” and the “Littles” were matched, so every little boy knew who his big brother was. The magic and impact of this connection was immediately evident. Monthly the “Bigs” and the “Littles” met as a group someplace in the metropolitan area to have some fun. Activities included such things as bowling, lazer tag and a scavenger hunt at the zoo. The “Bigs” acted as role models for the “Littles”. The “Littles” knew someone cared just about them. Everyone benefitted. It was truly a gift all around.
The 2012-2014 academic years, saw the expansion of the program with our High School Big Sister Program. 10 high school girls from Nerinx Hall High School were paired with 10 little sisters from East St. Louis. Modeled after our Big Brother Program, the girls instantly bonded and beautiful relationships were formed.
